Scotland first competed as an independent side in the 1989 Tertiary Student Rugby League World Cup, finishing 7th in the tournament with their only win coming against Holland in their final match of the tournament.
Since then, despite significant improvements in the quality of Scottish Rugby League, especially at the Tertiary level the side has not been able to improve much on the field. Whilst not many will be expecting much from the Scots in the 2008 tournament, the lack of pressure could be just what the side needs to click into gear and seriously challenge the opposition. |
