WORLD CUP NATIONS

Eight nations have been confirmed for the 2008 Universities Rugby League World Cup to be held in Brisbane in July.

AUSTRALIA
Australia are the 2008 Universities Rugby League World Cup hosts, and 2005 tournament runners up.
ENGLAND
Finished third in the last Tertiary Student Rugby League World Cup, but recently recorded victory over Australia.
FRANCE
France have competed in five of the six previous World Cups and have an impressive record, finishing in the top four in every tournament.
GREECE
This will be Greece's first ever Universities Rugby League World Cup making them the great unknown for the tournament.
IRELAND
Finished last in the 2005 tournament, but with a new structure and greater player depth will be looking to improve in 2008.
NEW ZEALAND
Current Student/Universities World Cup champions, and also ranked the top Tertiary based side in the world.
SCOTLAND
Finished 7th in 2005, but a recent tie up with Napier University has helped boost player depth. An unknown quantity in 2008.
WALES
Recent strong performances in the student home nations tournaments give plenty of hope to the Welsh tournament chances.
